NeboFleet watches every boat around the clock and tells you when something needs attention: a boat in a restricted zone, going too fast, moving after hours, or with a flat battery or water in the bilge. You choose which alerts each boat raises, and who gets them.
How an alert works
- You set the rule on a geofence, on a vessel or in your fleet settings.
- The boat's nebolink reports its position, speed and readings about every 30 seconds while it's underway.
- NeboFleet checks every report against your rules. When one is broken, it sends an alert.
- Your team gets it by email or text message, depending on their notification group. It's also recorded in the vessel's logs.
The types of alert
In Restricted Zone
A boat enters a zone it shouldn't be in, like shallows, a swimming area or a channel that's off limits. Draw the zone on the map and set its type to Restricted Zone: see Add a geofence.
Geofence notifications
A boat comes or goes from a place you care about, like your marina or a fuel dock. Set a zone to Notify on Entry, Notify on Exit or Notify on Entry and Exit, or a line to Notify on Crossed: see Add a geofence. A Log Only zone records each entry and exit without alerting anyone.
Over Speed
A boat goes faster than allowed. There are two ways to set a limit:
- In a zone: draw a Speed Restricted Zone with a Max Speed, for example a no-wake area: see Add a geofence.
- Anywhere else: set a Max Speed on the vessel, and turn on Enable global speed alerts (outside geofences) in your fleet settings: see Set speed and low battery alerts.
Low Battery
The voltage drops below the threshold set on the vessel, so you can charge it before the next booking. See Set speed and low battery alerts.
High Water
A boat's bilge pump runs, or runs more often in an hour than you allow, a sign that water is getting in. This needs the nebolink connected to the boat's existing bilge pump float switch, and it's in beta. See Get high water alerts.
After Hours Movement
A boat moves outside your operating hours, or between sunset and sunrise. This is in beta. See Get alerts when a boat moves after hours.
How alerts reach you
Alerts go by email or text message (SMS) to the people in your notification groups. Each group gets only the alert types you choose for it, so speed and restricted zone alerts can go to the operations team, and low battery alerts to whoever looks after the boats. Someone in several groups gets each alert once. See Set up notification groups.
An alert email gives the alert, the time and the boat's last location, with a link to see it on a map.
Alerts in the dashboard
- Every alert is recorded in the vessel's logs with the time and place, and the serious ones are shown in red. Click an entry to see where it happened: see View a vessel's logs.
- On the fleet map, a boat that's over speed shows a red speed icon, and Sort by › Alerts first puts boats with alerts at the top of the list.
Good to know
Alerts depend on the boat's nebolink being able to report. If you expect alerts from a boat and get none, check its status on the fleet map: Offline means its nebolink hasn't reported for a while.
